I can't say enough about my positive experience with Amber Golob. She was the designer for my kitchen/first floor renovation. It was a very large project for me operationally, expense wise and near-and-dear to my heart. I LIVE in my kitchen and I love to cook and entertain. First and foremost, Amber is technically smart and detailed with a keen eye for budget/costs, construction details/measurements, etc. She is also quite artistic and creative in her approach. She had great and original ideas and could flex design-wise in many directions. There is no cookie cutter approach to her work. She has excellent taste and can work in many styles. I tend to like to mix styles tastefully and she was a big help with that. And lastly she is absolutely a "breath of fresh air". She is always positive with a great attitude, doesn't get rattled when things shift or problems crop up. She is clear/concise and holds her own very well with contractors. I selected my own custom cabinet maker and used a combination of my contractors and hers and universally everyone loved working with her. That is so important in a kitchen remodel because you are living together as a team for a few months and Amber's customer service and project management made for a harmonious experience for us all. I love my kitchen and all the changes we made on my first floor. She did a fabulous job guiding me in marrying the old and new and making it all fresh while keeping an eye on my budget. She also has great customer service skills. In the 8 months or so we worked pretty closely on this project, I never had to wait for a response from Amber. She always got back to me in a very appropriate timeframe sometimes shockingly quick. She is thorough and complete in her responses and follow-up. I have used Amber's services for two major projects-a complete kitchen remodel and also a re-decorating project of a first floor space including a living, dining, family and powder room. The kitchen remodel was both very technical as we were designing cabnetry and a new layout for appliances as well as design focused. I thought Amber nailed both parts of the project. We started working with Amber just weeks after the pandemic started. While we had planned to renovate for some time, home confinement kick-started our efforts to reimagine and re-tool our tired kitchen. We knew that it would be a challenge to convert a 1930's home footprint into a contemporary space with modern amenities. We also knew that the universe of choices and styles was too overwhelming to take on ourselves. Recognizing our limitations, we engaged with Amber from the outset; we are so glad we did. Amber walked us through a design, planning, and bidding process that lasted for over a year. We started from the very fundamental motivations of why we wanted to remodel and what it was we wished for in a kitchen. She approached the entire process in a way that allowed us to consider choices in a logical and efficient manner. Those choices then drove the next stage of the process and so on. As that process evolved, we considered multiple layouts with varying degrees of construction, keeping in mind budget, disruption, and other factors. It was at this point we began to understand the value of experience that Amber brought to the table. Knowing whether something is possible or practical is essential to keep the project and plan moving forward. Once we began to finalize the plan and design, her input and involvement in the bidding and building process was as important, if not more so, than the design. I don't know that we would have made it through without her. We were so happy with the results of the kitchen that we engaged Amber to design and execute on a remodel of our living room and dining room. With all of the renovations, we made it clear to Amber that we wanted to stay true to the period character of our house (cir. 1930) so that the new fit the old. The biggest complement that we receive on the renovations is when people who see if for the first time - we have to point out what is new. I worked with Amber on a completely new floor plan for my small kitchen. She listened to my needs and came back with a few different plans to maximize my counter and cabinet space.
